Lockton rockets into space with former WTW veterans
Global broker Lockton has expanded its specialist capabilities with the launch of a new global space practice and three veteran hires from Piiq Risk Partners, who previously spent decades at WTW.
The new team will offer a suite of products, tailored to individual client needs across the space industry. Core coverages include transit and pre-launch, launch and initial in-orbit, subsequent in-orbit, space third-party liabilities and loss of revenue, the company said.
The practice will be led by Ian George as head of space. Russell Sawyer will join the team as an account executive, and Mark Williamson will act as a consultant.
George has over 25 years of space insurance experience. He joins from Piiq Risk Partners where he served in their newly formed space team. Prior to that, he worked at WTW for 24 years, starting as a projects and research analyst in the aviation division before working up to regional director.
Sawyer also joins from Piiq Risk Partners. He also has almost 30 years of experience at WTW where he was executive director.
Williamson joins Lockton with almost 40 years of space technology consultancy experience, most recently for Piiq Risk Partners.
