Aon mourns passing of reinsurance broking veteran James Buchanan
James Buchanan, a prominent broker and long-serving Aon executive who served its largest, and most complex, global programmes for many years, has passed away following a short illness.
Buchanan was a recognised figure in the re/insurance industry, having spent 28 years at Aon, most recently as CEO of the Global Reinsurance Clients team.
The company paid tribute to Buchanan, saying he was a much loved, highly regarded and talented colleague, who was admired across Aon, his clients, and the global markets.
“The passing of James is uniquely personal to us all, yet we come together as a global team to support each other, sharing reflections with gratitude for someone who meant so much to many of us,” Andy Marcell, global CEO of Reinsurance Solutions, and Dominic Christian, global chairman of the unit said in a joint statement.
“Our thoughts are with James’s wife, Claire, his children, and all who knew and loved him, at this difficult time.”
