Johnson of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on March 16. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and children JJ, David and Daniel.
Johnson was a recognised figure in the industry, who built intermediaries including Axiom Re and R/I Inc.
At the beginning of his distinguished career, he co-lead the reinsurance arm of the Penn General Companies, and later founded Reinsurance Intermediaries (“R/I Inc.”) in 1973.

Outside of reinsurance, Johnson was a serial entrepreneur, who loved to live his life to its fullest and was always larger than life with everyone and everything he touched in his path.
