Willis Towers Watson taps ATC exec to lead CRB claims in Australia
Broker Willis Towers Watson has appointed Sampath Soysa as claims manager – Northern and Southern region Australia, within its Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) team.
Soysa will be based in Willis Towers Watson’s Melbourne office.
Soysa has over 16 years of experience with local and multinational insurers across Australia and New Zealand. Most recently he held the role of chief operating officer and head of claims for ATC Insurance Solutions, the largest independent Lloyd’s of London cover-holder in Australia. Previously, he held the roles of Melbourne practice leader – principal (partner) for Gilchrist Connell Lawyers, and special counsel for Moray & Agnew Lawyers. Soysa was also the founder and inaugural Australasian president of Young Insurance Professionals (YIPs) Australia and New Zealand.
Andrew Boal, head of Australasia at Willis Towers Watson, said that Soysa’s appointment to the "strategically-important" position will enable the company to deliver the leading broker claims service throughout Australia.
"Sampath will be responsible for leading and further developing the CRB claims team’s high quality, client-focused approach to claims management, with a remit to attract and retain the best broker claims talent in the industry," Boal commented. "His significant industry experience means he will also be our resident expert on highly technical, large loss, business critical or complex claims as well as coverage disputes and declinatures."
"Sampath is a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in both Australia and New Zealand and we are looking forward to his legal experience which, along with the depth of his exposure to complex claims, will see him provide exceptional service for our clients."
Soysa said: "I am excited by the opportunity at Willis Towers Watson to lead a truly client focused claims function that is fully integrated with our core broking business."
