Nexus Underwriting taps Starr-Marsh vet to lead new product recall line

Independent specialty managing general agent (MGA)  Nexus Underwriting plucks veteran of Starr Insurance and  Marsh for a leadership position in product recall in its specialty casualty business.

Justin Darlea (pictured) joins Nexus Underwriting US from Starr Insurance, where he was regional underwriting manager for crisis management with a significant portfolio for over the past five years. Prior to this, Darlea was a product recall broker at Marsh McLennan and an underwriting assistant at Morstan General Agency.

Nexus Underwriting’s president of specialty casualty Christof Bentele said: “This appointment highlights the expansion of the division, and the successful launch of the product recall and contamination line of business last year. … and he is now well placed to expand the business nationwide. We set up the Nexus Specialty Casualty division in the US last year with the aim to roll out a suite of products over the next few years, and I am delighted that Justin has joined the team who I know will all benefit from his breadth of market knowledge and expertise.”
