Neon expands property team with two hires
Specialist Lloyd's insurer Neon has expanded its property insurance team with the appointment of Sam Yates and Jonathan Powell.
Yates has spent over a decade focusing on property underwriting and will be responsible for expanding Neon's open market property direct and facultative (D&F) business in London, working closely with Chris Fisher and Dwayne Hunt in Neon's Bermuda office to complement the company's North American portfolio.
Powell has over 30 years of experience in the Lloyd's market. He was most recently at Hiscox, where his key focus was North American binders. He will concentrate on building out Neon's offering in the residential binder space to supplement its existing open market D&F and property reinsurance businesses.
Chris Fisher, CEO of Neon Bermuda and head of property insurance, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Sam and Jonathan to our property insurance team. These hires are a bold statement of Neon's ambition to grow its property insurance proposition and provide further evidence of our ability to attract high-quality talent."
"Sam is a technically strong underwriter with in-depth knowledge of the market following his days at Ariel and FM Global, and Jonathan’s longstanding relationships are highly complementary to Neon's open market D&F book."
Fisher continued: "These hires continue to strengthen Neon's global reach and I am excited by the opportunity to package other lines alongside our residential property business and to utilise our cross-class capabilities. I look forward to working with our expanded team as we continue to grow and enhance our offering to clients and brokers."
