MS Reinsurance nabs Swiss Re, Axis Re, PartnerRe leaders for expansion
MS Reinsurance ( MS Amlin AG), a global reinsurer domiciled in Switzerland and part of the MS&AD insurance group, has strengthened its leadership team with four senior hires from Swiss Re, Axis Re and PartnerRe to support the next phase of its growth and expansion in the market.
The appointments aim to innovate the business by enhancing its technical expertise across data and underwriting operations.
Benedikt Schmid (pictured right) has joined as chief information and data officer, reporting to chief executive officer (CEO) Robert Wiest. Schmid brings 24 years of experience in the reinsurance industry and was previously chief information officer at Axis Re. In his new role, Schmid will lead the implementation of MS Reinsurance’s IT strategy, aimed at improving the use of data and technology to support the business.
Susanne Gnädinger (pictured) joined as chief transformation officer. She is spearheading the recently-rebranded business’ modernisation journey and joined from Partner Re where she spent 17 years developing deep expertise in business processes, systems design, and integrating new technologies for reinsurance.
Marcus Pollak (pictured left) joined as head of underwriting operations, reporting to Grégoire Mauchamp, chief technical underwriting officer. In this newly created role, Pollak will lead the underwriting operations team and support a wide range of products and processes globally, across various geographies. Pollak also joins from Axis Re where he led the global underwriting support team.
Finally, Stefan Behr will join MS Reinsurance as head of EMEA group clients, international casualty and engineering and report to Jörg Bruniecki, chief underwriting officer EMEA. Behr brings a blend of business development, client management, and underwriting experience and joins from Swiss Re where, most recently, he was the head of business development EMEA. His appointment aims to further strengthen the company’s growing, global underwriting team.
Wiest said: “Our future success at MS Reinsurance will be defined by our ability to expand our customer-centric approach and provide our valued partners with bespoke, innovative, and efficient solutions. I am delighted to welcome Benedikt, Susanne, Marcus, and Stefan to MS Reinsurance. All four join our growing team as we embark on our next chapter. We are committed to investing in our people and with more than 75 years of specialist experience, collectively, we are excited about the expertise they bring to the MS Reinsurance team.”
