Mosaic lines-up trio of female leaders to build out global claims unit
Specialty insurer Mosaic has bolstered its global claims expertise with new hires from Hamilton/Pembroke, Lockton and Aon as it looks to expand the unit’s scope to serve a broad geography across the company’s six product lines.
Elissa Doroff (pictured center) has been appointed to lead its North American claims handling as it builds out the core division globally.
Based in New York, she will work with Mosaic’s brokers and insureds throughout North America, over time expanding the unit's scope to serve the US and Canada.
Doroff’s hiring follows another recent addition to Mosaic’s claims team in Rachel Haffenden (pictured right), who joined the specialist insurer’s London office last month as a senior claims adjuster. The division has been led since Mosaic’s launch in February 2021 by Natalie Graham (pictured left), a lawyer who previously held managerial roles at Syndicate 4000 and Aon.
Doroff has more than 15 years of industry experience. She started her insurance career as claims counsel with AIG, and later was cyber and technology product manager at AXA XL. On the broker side, she had roles at Marsh and Lockton, most recently as managing director, cyber product leader of Lockton Financial Services (Pacific). Prior to 2006, she began her legal career in tax with Deloitte.
Haffenden has handled specialty lines claims in the London market since 2009, most recently at a Lloyd's syndicate where she dealt with complex claims across multiple jurisdictions. She joined Mosaic from Hamilton where she served as a senior claims adjuster for professional indemnity & financial lines. Prior to that, Haffenden worked for nearly seven years at Pembroke Managing Agency.
Doroff said: “Having worked on all sides of the insurance equation, from claims and underwriting to product management and broking, I am thrilled to get back to my true passion in insurance—claims. I value the opportunity to work with such a dynamic team comprised of true industry pioneers. I look forward to contributing to the innovation and success of Mosaic.”
Graham said: “[Doroff and Haffenden] bring a wealth of experience that enables Mosaic to provide highly technical and region-specific expertise as we partner with our insureds throughout all stages of the claims process.”
She added: “As an innovative company with pioneering insurtech, we automate as much as we can, but tech is only part of the puzzle. Our goal is to build longstanding relationships with our insureds and to be on hand to provide guidance before, during, and after any claim arises.”
