Lockton picks Aon talent for financial services unit
Independent insurance broker Lockton has strengthened its political and credit risks division with a new hire from Aon.
Raj Shourie joins Lockton from Aon, where he was the financial institutions advisory lead for credit solutions. He has over 30 years of experience in banking, funds and insurance in London, Singapore and Tokyo. He has held numerous roles within capital markets origination, underwriting, risk distribution and loan portfolio management with leading banks including Barclays, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank.
In his new role, Shourie will take on responsibility for leading the engagement with financial institutions internationally out of London, for both credit mitigation and country risk protection. His primary focus is on delivering credit mitigation tools for banks seeking to use insurance as a credit risk distribution and capital efficiency tools. These include bi-lateral and syndicated insurance contracts on unsecured, asset or project backed loans and bespoke securitisation structures combining insurance with capital markets investors.
He will also engage with funds seeking to insure traditional and non-standard risks.
Peter Hornsby, partner at Lockton, said Shourie’s strong international experience reflects the globally-focused nature of the Lockton team. “His deep knowledge of credit risk strengthens our offering for our clients as we grow,” he added. “The risk landscape for financial institutions is continually shifting, and we have developed a compelling proposition to help our clients navigate it.”
Shourie added: “ Lockton has a reputation for its focus on client service and sector-specific expertise, and I’m excited to be part of the team. As the needs and demands of its financial services client base evolve, I look forward to helping Lockton meet them.”
