Lockton expands Nordic footprint after major team raid in Denmark
Lockton has unveiled the latest step in its growth strategy in the Nordic region, having recently expanded operations to Aarhus last month and Copenhagen in April 2020. The independent insurance broker has launched a new employee benefit division following a number of senior hires in Denmark.
To bring its existing global employee benefit offering to a new client base in the Nordic region, Lockton has hired senior consultants from two Danish boutique consulting businesses - Penfor and Skinnerup Consulting.
Penfor’s managing partner and founder Torben Sogaard, together with Partners Jan Lind, Erik Ludvigsen and Kim Henningsen, joined Lockton on June 1. Additionally, Hans Otto Koch, another of Penfor’s managing partners and founders, has joined on July 1.
Skinnerup Consulting partner Sten Asmussen has also joined the new Lockton employee benefits practice.
Lockton’s global employee benefits practice, currently operating in the UK, Ireland, US, Asia, Middle East and Latin America, supports multinational employers to deliver employee benefit strategies in a compliant, competitive and cost-effective manner in order to drive employee attraction and retention, significant cost savings, and administrative efficiencies.
Simon Gilliat, international head of benefits at Lockton Companies, said: “Lockton is broadening its global footprint as part of its growth strategy, and the expansion of the Employee Benefits division is a key part of that plan. Through these acquisitions, and through Hans, Sten, Erik, Torben, Kim and Jan joining the Lockton team, we will be well placed to bring our compelling proposition to a new, broader range of clients in Denmark. We’re thrilled to welcome six strong leaders in Danish employee benefits, who will bring their advanced knowledge and insight to bear for our client-base in a consultancy market that is evolving.”
Jesper Nygaard, CEO of Lockton Denmark, added: “We only established Lockton Denmark in April last year, and the business has been extremely well-received and supported by both clients and markets in this short timeframe. We are very proud to add a local employee benefits practice as part of our overall offering to our Danish clients. These new additions to our team are highly regarded practitioners within their field and all share our common focus for independent client advice and the highest quality of service.”
