Lockton lures ex-Howden to spearhead UK and Ireland surety business
Re/insurance broker Lockton has hired a surety practice leader, formerly of Howden and RKH Specialty, to spearhead its UK and Ireland business in a particularly volatile property market.
Ben Milan (Pictured) has been appointed vice president and surety practice leader within the Lockton Global Real Estate & Construction (GREAC) division. In his new role, Milan will be responsible for running the Lockton surety practice for the UK and Ireland, while playing a key role in the growth of the wider Surety business.
Milan joins from Kerry London where he served as surety manager. In this role, he worked with major and specialist sub-contractors and arranged bonds for some of the largest construction projects in the UK. Prior to that, he worked at Howden Insurance Brokers, most recently as an account executive. Milan began his insurance career at RKH Specialty.
Milan will have overall responsibility for the surety business and day-to-day servicing on surety accounts, with support from the wider GREAC team at Lockton. He will also support the overall growth of the division, working closely with many of the largest construction and real estate companies in the UK and Ireland.
David Hayhow, head of GREAC at Lockton, said: “Surety is a key product for our clients, providing security in a particularly volatile property market. Ben brings excellent technical knowledge, invaluable insurer and client relationships and insight to the team. I am delighted to welcome him to Lockton and I am certain clients in the UK and Ireland will benefit greatly from his support and counsel.”
Milan added: “I am thrilled to be joining Lockton to spearhead the UK and Ireland Surety business. Their ambitions for the sector are very impressive and they have developed a market leading reputation among real estate and construction businesses based on their sector understanding and commitment to service.”
