Landmark recruits former HDI exec as D&O head for Australasia and ASEAN
Landmark Holding Group, which specialises in developing and managing insurance intermediaries, has appointed a new head of directors and officers liability for the Australasia and ASEAN regions.
Alistair Sandilands starts in the role on June 1 and will be based in Australia. Beginning his career in 1989, Sandilands worked for 13 years in the Lloyd’s of London and UK markets including eight years with Hiscox before moving to Sydney, Australia to work with Chubb. He later was part of a two-person team that set up XL (now AXA XL)’s Asia Pac Financial Lines book. He went on to become ACE’s national D&O and SME financial lines manager, before establishing and running HDI Global’s ASEAN financial lines for eight years until December 2019. Since then he has pursued a number of business interests and worked in an advisory role.
Sandilands, who will be working alongside Landmark’s own Andrew Owens, said: “I am delighted about joining Landmark, after spending over 30 years working for leading insurers in different countries this opportunity based in Australia presents the logical next stage in my career. Landmark continues to grow their global footprint in a controlled way which made my decision easy, with an exciting and fresh approach to their further expansion plans.”
Ross Lazaroo-Hood, group CEO, added: “I am very pleased to be welcoming Alistair to the Landmark family and into another key appointment created through our exciting expansion plans for Landmark. He has a very impressive amount of experience gained both in Australia and the rest of the world. Alistair will be joining on the June 1 bringing his skills and industry partnerships, which will put him in good stead to allow him to quickly gain momentum in developing our D&O product throughout the Australasia and ASEAN regions.”
