JLT Specialty brings AIG UK environmental leader to head unit
Insurance broker and risk consultant JLT Specialty London has appointed Emilie Walsh as head of environmental, based within its specialty property and casualty team.
Walsh most recently led the UK environmental underwriting team for AIG. She has been involved in a broad range of complex and major risks including operational, transactional or project risks covering a range of industries, not limited to construction, real-estate, energy and manufacturing.
In her new role, Walsh will be consulting with JLT’s Industry facing professionals and clients. She will work closely with clients to advise them on any existing exposures, as well as emerging environmental risks, delivering bespoke solutions to their current and future environmental risk and insurance needs.
The company stated that the demand for environmental risk and insurance solutions has steadily grown over the years following the introduction of new regulations which imposed additional liabilities on businesses for environmental damage. It has become an increasingly important insurance for a wide range of commercial businesses including waste management and oil companies, commercial landlords, land developers, manufacturers and utilities companies.
Simon Delchar, CEO of JLT’s specialty property and casualty team, said: "There is growing concern amongst businesses about their environmental exposures both past and present, and many are increasingly looking for specialist advice and guidance on this issue. Emilie’s experience in this sector will be of huge benefit to both existing and potential clients who could be affected by the issue, and her wealth of knowledge will help them make the right decisions for their business going forward."
