IGI bolsters London team with three key hires
Re/insurer International General Insurance (IGI) has strengthened its London team with the appointment of three key underwriters Simon Mepham, Ben Cubitt and Joanna Cousins.
Mepham has been appointed senior underwriter of directors and officers (D&O). He brings over 25 years of London market insurance experience in broking and underwriting.
At IGI, Mepham will be tasked with establishing and developing a book of international commercial D&O liability insurance and associated lines of business. He will report to Chris Mauduit, class underwriter, professional and casualty lines.
He previously held roles at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT), Newline Syndicate and most recently at WR Berkley Insurance (Europe), where he was managing a mix of UK and international clients.
Cubitt has been appointed in IGI’s financial institutions team as an underwriter, reporting to class underwriter Andrew Wood. He will be responsible for the development and growth of a portfolio of financial institution business for civil liability, crime and D&O liability classes, with a particular focus on asset Management, corporate and alternative finance sectors.
Cubitt started his career at AIG (Europe) and Ace European Group (AEGL), and most recently worked at Nexus.
Lastly, Cousins has been appointed as political violence underwriter. She joins from Arch Insurance (Europe), where she worked with the terrorism and political violence team. She will report to Craig Curtiss, class underwriter, political violence, and will be responsible for further developing IGI’s political violence plan.
