IGI launches legal expenses product, hires Brit expert
Specialist commercial re/insurer International General Insurance Holdings (IGI) has introduced a legal expenses insurance product and hired former Markel, Brit expert to develop the business line.
The new product offers coverage for both before-the-event (BTE) and after-the-event (ATE) legal expenses insurance and is primarily aimed at commercial risks.
The product will cover the legal exposures that these businesses face in their day-to-day operations. Business can be written on direct placements, through coverholders, line slips or as a reinsurance contract.
Terry Mason has been appointed to develop legal expenses insurance at IGI, bringing with him over 25 years’ experience in the sector. Terry previously held roles at Markel International and most recently Brit Global Specialty where he was the legal expenses class underwriter.
Mason will report to Andreas Loucaides, CEO of IGI UK.
Loucaides said: “IGI will continually add specialty lines of business to help enhance our market standing in line with our vision of prudent and well-managed growth.
“We are committed to enhancing our global programmes and expertise with top talent such as Terry, whose extensive experience will ensure our clients and brokers get the best possible service that addresses their risks now and in the future.”
