Howden takes flight in aviation with double swoop from Starr & McGill

Global re/insurance broker  Howden has hired senior talent from McGill and Starr, with Marsh/WTW pedigree, in a move to bolster its expertise and growth in the airline and aerospace sectors.

Steven Crook joins as divisional director, head of claims, aviation, with Wayne Hawkins as divisional director, head of airlines, aviation.

Crook’s appointment is with immediate effect while Hawkins will commence his employment at Howden at the end of 2023. The duo will be based in London and report to Jason Humphreys, global head of aviation.

Crook has more than 30 years of industry experience and joins Howden from Starr Companies. He has previously spent over 25 years at Marsh in a variety of roles in aviation claims.

Hawkins comes to Howden from McGill and Partners where he held the position of partner, aviation and aerospace. He began his career in 2005 at WTW (Willis Towers Watson), and has since gained extensive experience in managing a variety of complex risks.
