DAC Beachcroft expands its claims solutions business with new partner hire
International law firm DAC Beachcroft has bolstered its claims solutions business with the appointment of partner and costs expert Adam Burrell to head its national Costs practice.
Formerly partner and head of the costs team at BLM, Burrell has extensive experience of challenging and recovering costs claims arising from all types of litigation, including disease, motor and casualty injury, fraud and property insurance claims, as well as clinical negligence, health and safety, commercial disputes, and judicial reviews. He has also advised on test litigation in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
Craig Dickson, CEO of DAC Beachcroft’s Claims Solutions, said: “Adam has a market-leading reputation for his costs expertise and we’re delighted to welcome him. This is another significant hire as we continue to build our Claims Solutions business and demonstrates our commitment to delivering ‘everything, everywhere’ as our insurer and commercial clients are increasingly requesting.”
The Costs team within DAC Beachcroft’s Claims Solutions supports clients in challenging third party costs and recovering their costs when successful in litigation, thereby maximising savings and minimising overall indemnity spend. With over 40 lawyers, the team is involved throughout the litigation process, advising on initial reserves, litigation tactics, settlement advice, JSMs, mediations and costs budgeting.
Burrell said: “DAC Beachcroft is well known in the market for the strength, breadth and depth of quality specialists it has across all aspects of costs work, and I’m very much looking forward to joining this top-tier team. They have the resources and know-how to handle large volumes, as well as complex claims, whilst keeping the client at the heart of their service.”
Burrell’s appointment follows further strategic developments for the firm’s Claims Solutions business in 2019, which saw a five partner-led team of catastrophic injury claims experts join DAC Beachcroft in Glasgow and the opening of a new office in Belfast focused on litigation, professional negligence and risk management.
