Crawford taps Charles Taylor exec to expand in energy sector

Claims specialist  Crawford & Company has hired a global head of natural resources from Charles Taylor as it seeks to further expand its footprint in the energy sector.

Christopher Eades (pictured) will lead Crawford’s newly formed natural resources solution. He will be responsible for building a global team of energy specialists to service the oil and gas, power generation, renewables and mining insurance sectors and developing new business through the strategic network of established Crawford worldwide hubs.

Eades will report to Andrew Bart, president of loss adjusting, international, and Pat Van Bakel, president, North America.

Eades was most recently managing director of Charles Taylor Natural Resources Middle East. In a loss adjusting career spanning more than 35 years, he has worked in a variety of specialist positions and managed large and complex claims in Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, South America, and Asia.

He has spent a combined 18 years working in the Middle East, managing cases in the energy sector involving refineries, LNG facilities, petrochemical plants, power and CSP plants, industrial property, construction, land rigs, offshore platforms, jack-up rigs, floating production systems and subsea pipelines on behalf of regional insurers and international reinsurers.

Bart said: “Over the course of his impressive career, Christopher has accumulated vast and varied experience adjusting challenging and high-profile energy claims around the world. We could not wish for a better person to help us develop and grow our global offering in this dynamic segment.”

Van Bakel added: “As Crawford builds a new global energy solution, Christopher is a critical addition to our team with deep and eminent expertise in his field. Christopher’s impressive knowledge and experience will help us to deliver on our purpose to restore and enhance lives, businesses and communities."

Eades commented: “From the emergence of new technologies to the transition to net-zero carbon emissions, the natural resources energy sector is a fast-moving claims environment requiring specialist adjusting expertise. I’m excited to have the opportunity to join Crawford’s talented team, develop new business opportunities and attract leading talent to the organisation.”
