Convex Re plucks AXA XL reinsurance vet for deputy CEO slot
Convex Re plucked a Bermuda reinsurance veteran from AXA XL to be its new deputy CEO and promoted an insider to the chief underwriting officer post.
Paul Simons steps in as Convex RE’s deputy CEO after a stint a6t AXA XL, having previously worked for AXA XL predecessor firms XL Catlin, XL Re and XL Mid Ocean. Simons most recently served as CEO of Bermuda Reinsurance AXA XL.
Richard Slater has been promoted to chief underwriting officer after three years in the group as product leader of international property treaty. Slater carries 25 years of experience in global reinsurance, retro and ILS at such locales as Brit’s Sussex ILS fund, XL Catlin, Montpelier Re and ACE Tempest Re. He replaces Ben Savill who heads to Australia on account of family commitments.
