Chaucer hires general liability underwriter from Allianz
Chaucer, the specialty international re/insurance group, has appointed Colm Sheedy as class underwriter to work on their US general liability (GL) account, which focuses on large wholesale facultative business.
Sheedy will work with Joe Murphy, senior class underwriter, to support growth plans following a significant increase in US GL capacity for 2020, including a maximum line size of $10m.
Sheedy has nearly a decade of underwriting experience. He joins Chaucer from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he worked on their US liability account. Prior to this, he was with Travelers and Chubb.
Ed Lines, active underwriter of Syndicate 1084 at Chaucer, said: “Colm is a talented underwriter and I am confident that his strong underwriting experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to brokers and clients as we grow our presence in the US general liability market”.
Sheedy added: “I admire the US general liability business that Joe Murphy has built at Chaucer, and look forward to working closely with him to deliver more first class products and services to Chaucer’s GL brokers and clients in the US.”
