Argenta lifts ex-Lloyd’s/Swiss Re leader from within for CEO post
Argenta Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of reinsurer Hannover Re, has revealed a new chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director of its Lloyd’s authorised managing agency following the retirement of Andrew Annandale at the end of December 2022.
Nick Moore (pictured) will succeed Annandale in both roles at Argenta Syndicate Management (ASML), subject to all necessary regulatory and Lloyd’s approvals.
Moore is currently ASML’s deputy managing director and chief actuary. He has been with Argenta for over 13 years. Prior to that, he worked at Swiss Re and the Corporation of Lloyd’s.
Annandale became group CEO of Argenta in 2006 and has had a career spanning more than 35 years in the Lloyd’s Market. He served as managing director of Argenta Private Capital, its members’ agency subsidiary, before moving to run the managing agency side of the business in June 2008. He has overseen the growth of Argenta's businesses as well as its acquisition by Hannover Re in July 2017.
Sven Althoff, chairman of Argenta and member of the executive board of Hannover Re said: “I would like to thank Andrew for his significant contribution to the development of Argenta. Through Andrew’s leadership, all Argenta entities have transformed to their current excellent position in the market. Andrew’s dedication to Argenta as well as his ambition for the business have driven the success of the Group. Under his leadership, Argenta has become the successful business we see today with firm foundations to enable future growth and development. I wish Andrew all the very best for his retirement.”
Althoff added: “Nick has successfully undertaken a number of leadership roles to date within Argenta and I look forward to working closely with him to drive the next chapter in the development of the Group.”
John Whiter, chairman of ASML, added: “Andrew and I have built an excellent working relationship over many years and I would like to congratulate him on his many achievements. He has been instrumental in the successful development of Argenta. I do wish Andrew a happy and healthy retirement and look forward to hearing of his plans for the future”.
Moore commented: “I would like to thank Andrew for his collegiality and guidance as the leader of our businesses. His influence has been fundamental in building Argenta and steering the Executive team. I now look forward to taking on the new roles and working with the excellent team at Argenta. I am convinced that we are well positioned to tackle the challenges of the future and will continue to build our businesses successfully.”
