Aon draws Willis Towers Watson talent for new chief broking role
Re/insurance broker Aon has hired a chief broking officer for commercial risk in the UK from rival Willis Towers Watson (WTW).
Angela James will join the business in June 2022 and report to James Baum, head of commercial risk, UK.
In the newly created role, which will cover commercial risk in the Global Broking Centre (GBC) and the London and UK Regions, she will work closely with Baum and other UK commercial risk leaders to continue to build out its broking strategy, and that of the global network.
James brings 15 years of insurance experience to Aon with extensive knowledge of direct and facultative risk transfer solutions throughout the global marketplace. She joins from WTW, where she was most recently global property and casualty (P&C) hub leader for its centres in London, Bermuda, Singapore, and Shanghai. Having begun her career as a graduate trainee at Aon in 2006, she joined WTW in 2014 and led several P&C broking teams, responsible for designing strategies to deliver growth.
Baum said: “Angela’s appointment is part of our continued focus to bring the best talent in the UK together to help our clients make better decisions in navigating their most difficult challenges. I’m looking forward to working with Angela as we expand our broking strategies across our retail, wholesale, and specialisms in the London market.”
