Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty appoints Kang as global head of reinsurance and catastrophe risk management
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty has appointed a new global head of reinsurance and catastrophe risk management Hyeji Kang.
Kang moves from the role of head of actuarial function to take up the post as of today (October 1, 2019).
She succeeds Bernhard Arbogast, who will retire at the end of May 2020, and will report to chief financial officer Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre.
Kang has previously held roles including chief actuary for the AGCS North American region. She will work together with Arbogast over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover. Her successor will be announced at a later date.
Coste-Lepoutre said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Hyeji to my global leadership team, as she brings deep actuarial knowledge through both her professional background and her leadership in one of the key AGCS regions for more than four years and in the actuarial global team in Munich recently. I would also like to thank Bernhard for his expertise and professionalism and wish him the best for a very well deserved retirement after many years of dedication to Allianz.”
Kang joined the AGCS Chicago office in 2015 as chief actuary for North America. In 2018 she moved to Munich as head of Actuarial Function. Prior to joining AGCS she held consulting and in-house positions in PwC, CNA Insurance and Willis Towers Watson. Hyeji holds a degree in economics from the Seoul National University.
