Alesco poaches Ed Broking duo to grow power expertise
Alesco Risk Management Services has appointed two new senior energy specialists from Ed Broking to expand its power team.
Jon Parker has joined as executive director to head up Alesco’s power team within its specialty energy practice. He has over 30 years’ experience in the sector in all aspects of downstream with a particular focus on power. He has spent much of his career working for clients in the US and Latin America and joins from Ed Broking, where he was head of downstream. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Guy Carpenter, HSBC and Heath Lambert.
Charlie Lech will take on the role of partner in Parker’s team. He has over 10 years in the power sector and also joins from Ed Broking, having previously worked at Price Forbes & Partners. Lech has a background in the US & international market and extensive experience in market placement. His focus will be assisting in building the Alesco client portfolio globally.
Jonathan Smith, managing partner of Alesco’s energy practice, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jon and Charlie on board. Both have in-depth knowledge of the power insurance market and bring a wealth of knowledge in the development and management of insurance programmes on a global basis.”
Parker commented: “ Alesco’s approach of ensuring clients get access to insurance professionals that really know their market was a really attractive proposition to me, and I am delighted to be joining to lead our growth aspirations.
“Over the last few years the power insurance market has seen significant challenges; risks to the business have evolved, capacity has been hit and rates have been increasing, so the role a specialist broker plays is now more important than ever. This changeable market also gives Alesco plenty of opportunities to demonstrate its expertise and grow its client base.”
