Baden-Baden and APCIA annual events get green light to resume in-person
The organisers of two of the reinsurance industry’s biggest conferences have given the green light for their events to go ahead in person this year.
The organisers of the Baden-Baden Reinsurance Meeting, which takes place in Germany between October 17 and 21, and the American Property Casualty Insurance Association’s annual conference (APCIA), set to take place in Denver, Colorado between October 31 and November 2, have both said the events will happen with a physical presence.
Both events were cancelled in a physical format last year due to COVID-19. The APCIA instead ran a virtual conference last year.
The APCIA event will be held at the Sheraton Denver Downtown. Registration will open in mid-July, the organisers said.
The registration for delegates wishing to attend Baden-Baden will also start in July, and will be carefully monitored and limited, if necessary, to ensure everyone's safety and security, the organisers said.
The Baden-Baden organisers said that the decision has been made by the advisory council for the organisation after considering the ongoing progress of vaccination and the likelihood of a further decrease in infection rates.
"The actual and further ongoing progress of vaccination and other measures of sanitary protection have led to continuously decreasing incidence rates. The current likelihood of a further decrease and a sustainable low level of these rates lays the foundations to conduct an industry meeting in physical presence in October," Baden-Baden organisers said in a statement.
