Casualty MGA Casper taps key Argenta talent to scale in UK and Europe
Casualty-focused managing general agent (MGA) Casper Speciality UK has tapped Argenta Syndicate Management Limited (ASML) for a new head of operations.
Jacob Blomfield will be responsible for the development of Casper’s operational infrastructure, focussing on how the MGA captures, stores and uses data.
Blomfield, who has over a decade of experience in the Lloyd’s market, joins from ASML where he served for seven years, most recently as its head of delegated underwriting, which was responsible for managing Syndicate 2121’s delegated authority book. Prior to that, he worked at Chesterfield Insurance Brokers, AmTrust and Antares.
The appointment comes after the MGA secured two additional capacity providers following its launch last year. Now in its second year of trading, Casper operates independently as a sister entity of Miller, underwriting a broad range of FI, D&O and professional lines business.
Simon Sykes, chief operating officer at Casper, said: “Jacob’s appointment represents another milestone as we continue to build out Casper as a leading casualty MGA. As we continue to scale the business through our nuanced and agile approach to underwriting, Jacob’s energy and operational expertise will help shape the future of Casper, further enabling us to deliver attractive returns and a differentiated offering, with truly data-led underwriting at our core.
“Following our successful first year of trading, we are excited to be growing our teams both in the UK and Europe, and Jacob’s appointment reflects our ambition to be an attractive home for entrepreneurial talent. We are delighted to have him onboard.”
