Winners unveiled at Intelligent Insurer’s Cyber Insurance Awards Europe 2024
Winners at Intelligent Insurer’s Cyber Insurance Awards Europe 2024 were recognised last night for excellence, innovation and sector-wide contributions in cyber.
More than 200 cyber insurance luminaries from across the industry came together to watch the winners collect their gongs at the glittering ceremony, which was hosted by publishing director Wyn Jenkins and British comedian Hal Cruttenden, and sponsored by Aon, AXA XL, Resilience, Canopius, Cysmo and Kroll.
Winners and highly recommended prizes
The top prize for Cyber Insurance Carrier of the Year went to winner CFC, with a highly commended gong for Canopius.
The awards judges highlighted winner CFC’s “constant innovation” and applauded the way the firm has taken the lead in establishing the UK Cyber Monitoring Centre. This is something the judges recognised as hugely beneficial for the wider sector.
Aon collected the Cyber Insurance Broker of the Year award for its “exceptional standing as a global leader with unparalleled global reach”, the judges said. Joint highly commended recognition went to Marsh and Paragon International Insurance Brokers.
The judges said winner Aon is renowned for its innovation and client-centric approach, as well as its unique ability to tailor its services and offer diverse types of capacity to meet the distinctive needs of its clients.
“What sets Aon apart is its remarkable capacity-building facilities, empowering clients with access to extensive resources and opening up new avenues for robust risk management,” the judges said.
Liberty Mutual Re won the Cyber Reinsurer of the Year award for “developing undeniable expertise” in this area of business, the judges said. There was highly commended recognition for Munich Re and a special mention for Envelop Risk in this category.
The judges said they admired the way Liberty Mutual Re embodies innovation and is always open to exploring new ideas.
Gallagher Re collected the Cyber Reinsurance Broker of the Year prize, with a highly commended award in this category going to Guy Carpenter.
The judges were impressed with winner Gallagher Re’s comprehensive understanding of the cyber capital chain, its focus on innovation, particularly around cat bonds, and its teams that showcased skill and expertise in conventional and non-traditional cyber solutions. The judges said: “The firm’s strong analytical approach put it in a unique position to assist clients with all their cyber reinsurance requirements.”

Helen Raff, divisional director, Intelligent Insurer, said: “Last night was a phenomenal event. Cyber insurance is a hotbed of innovation and the atmosphere at the awards ceremony was truly electric. Over the last few weeks our expert panel of judges had some incredibly hard decisions to make and we were thrilled to be able to present the winners and highly commended with their trophies and recognise their hard work and contributions to the industry.
“Hal Cruttenden was an excellent host and it was a fantastic evening of networking, recognition and celebration. We can’t wait to return in 2025 for next year’s awards.”
Judging process and 2025 awards
After receiving hundreds of entries, the Intelligent Insurer team announced the finalists in 16 different categories in December 2023. Finalists were then judged by a panel of industry experts who met during December 2023 and January 2024 to deliberate and decide the winner for each category. To ensure impartiality in the final decisions, Intelligent Insurer avoided assigning judges who might have a conflict of interest to categories where their involvement could influence the outcome.
The Cyber Insurance Awards Europe 2025 will take place in London in February 2025. Nominations will open in August 2024. Those wishing to register their interest in taking part as a nominee, judge or sponsor, can complete this form.
For many, the Awards celebration was a prelude to today’s Cyber Risk & Insurance Innovation Europe 2024 conference, also taking place in London. Updates from both events can be found via the Intelligent Insurer X and LinkedIn platform.
