Three Aon veterans join Howden Re to lead new unit in Europe
Howden Re, part of international re/insurance broker Howden Group, has brought in three senior Aon executives to establish and lead a new disability, life & health reinsurance division in Europe.
Based in the Netherlands and reporting to Howden Re CEO Bradley Maltese, the new team will develop propositions around reinsurance and capital management for existing and future Howden Re clients globally, with its primary focus on the European market.
The lead team, which includes Richard Vuurman, Theo Lutgendorff and Thomas Trompert, has previously structured, placed and renewed 500+ disability, life and health reinsurance programmes.
Vuurman (Pictured Right) joins Howden Re as executive director, and brings over 20 years’ experience in disability, life and health reinsurance, serving latterly as managing director of life, accident, health and income protection reinsurance solutions at Aon.
Lutgendorff (Pictured Center), who also joins as executive director, served as co-leader of Aon’s accident, health and life global client practice from early 2020 and has previously held international leadership positions at Zurich and Aon.
Trompert (Pictured Left) joins the team as divisional director, having previously held reinsurance and actuarial roles at Aon, SNS REAAL and Zwitserleven (Athora). During his tenure at Aon, Trompert also served as its global disability practice leader.
Maltese said these appointments reflect Howden RE’s “ability to attract the best talent in the market and our determination to deliver a quality intermediary service to our clients in the face of challenging market conditions.”
“We will continue to invest in expertise to ensure we take a leading position across all global specialisms, delivering a superior level of service and ensuring that our clients grasp as many opportunities as possible,” he added.
