Swiss Re lifts seasoned executive to top regional P&C Re post

Global reinsurer Swiss Re has appointed a new head of property and casualty (P&C) for its Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe (NCEE) business. The move follows a wave of leadership changes within the business globally.

Leopoldo Camara will assume his new role with effect from August 1, while continuing with his direct client management responsibility as Swiss Re's head globals for NCEE. He is based in Munich.

Beat Strebel, who has been serving as interim head for P&C reinsurance NCEE, will move to Beijing to become Swiss Re's chief executive officer (CEO) reinsurance China & China country president.

Camara joined Swiss Re in 2005 and has worked in functions across the organisation, including group finance, group risk management, and life & health business management. In 2016, he joined the globals division as key account manager for German and Spanish clients. Most recently, Camara held the position as head of globals Europe.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, Camara worked for the Gerling-Konzern in Germany, the Mexican Insurance Regulator, and for Zurich Insurance and Converium in Switzerland.
