State Farm under fire for ‘playing around’ with California rate demands

State Farm has been “playing around” with California insurance regulators in its demands for an emergency rate hike, forcing the regulatory office to go overly by the book in order to avoid encouraging other carriers to follow suit after major events, California’s insurance commissioner Ricardo Lara (pictured) indicated for state lawmakers.
