Swiss Re CS taps insider to drive growth in Canadian market
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of Swiss Re Group, has appointed a senior executive with a background at Munich Re and Aon to take the reins of its Canadian business.
James Gasco (pictured) has been named new head of Canada for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, with effect from September 1. He succeeds Adrian Hall, who moves to London to become head UK, Ireland, South Africa and EMEA Wholesale for Swiss Re.
In this role, Gasco will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' presence in the Canadian market. Based out of Toronto, he will join the North America regional management team and continue to serve as a member of the Canada management team for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Gasco will report to Katie McGrath, CEO North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Gasco has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he held the position of head property & specialty Canada, leading the team across general property, energy and engineering and construction lines. Over the past three years, he was instrumental in expanding Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' presence across Canada. Gasco recently joined the branch management committee for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions America Insurance Corporation - Canadian Branch. Earlier in his career, he was a senior underwriter at Temple Insurance (Munich Re) and a senior broker with Aon Reed Stenhouse.
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has offices in Toronto and Vancouver, as well as servicing capabilities in Montreal.
"With his strong leadership experience, established customer and broker relationships, and deep market knowledge, I am confident that James is ideally positioned to drive Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' continued growth in the Canadian market," said Katie McGrath, CEO North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
