Qatar Re has moved into its Pembroke offices in Bermuda as the company ramps up its global capabilities.
The company, which is headquartered in Doha, Qatar, now has branch offices in both Zurich and Pembroke.
The Bermuda branch is led by Luke Roden, branch manager and head of property, North America. He is supported by Rob Womack who serves as underwriting manager, North American property.
Qatar Re has tasked the team with building its property lines business in North America across catastrophe, risk XL, aggregate XL, pro-rata and stop loss coverages.
Through its Bermuda branch Qatar Re will offer the market up to $30 million per catastrophe or aggregate programme and $7.5 million per risk or pro rata via the broker market.
As a quoting market Qatar Re is able to take underwriting decisions quickly, the firm said, with senior underwriters “vested with a clear front-end authority and…flat decision-making”.
Qatar Re began writing business in North America in 2012 and has built up a sizable portfolio for its Bermuda branch.
Qatar Re said that its Bermuda branch will be staffing up in the coming months.
