Howden lands former Swiss Re duo for DUAL North America leadership
DUAL North America, a part of Howden Group Holdings’ specialist underwriting arm DUAL Group, has hired former Swiss Re senior executives for key leadership roles to help further expand in the wider market.
Ranjit Jaswal has been appointed new chief risk officer, with Luke Wolmer as senior vice president of actuarial and data analytics.
As CRO for DUAL North America, Jaswal will lead the company’s risk and compliance vision and strategy, working with key stakeholders across DUAL and the Howden Group in developing and enhancing enterprise risk management approaches. He will additionally report on risk exposures to the DUAL North America leadership team, identifying key emerging risks and ensuring the delivery of appropriate risk responses.
Jaswal has more than 25 years of international financial services experience having held consulting and corporate risks roles at companies including Swiss Re and EY. Most recently, he was the managing partner for Mazars US, leading the financial services consulting practice.
Based out of New York and reporting into John Johnson, chief executive officer of DUAL North America, Jaswal will be the newest member of the DUAL North America leadership team and Risk Committee.
Wolmer joined DUAL in late 2022 as senior vice president of actuarial and data analytics to support the company’s underwriting teams. Wolmer, who has more than 10 years of industry experience, is responsible for providing and overseeing actuarial services for both new and renewing programmes. This includes pricing and reserving analytics, new product development, and providing guidance to divisional leads as they set the direction of their book.
Prior to joining DUA, Wolmer served as the P&C analytics North America market lead for Swiss Re. Wolmer is based in California.
Johnson said: “As we continue to grow, these new roles are imperative to our success and ability to deliver on promises to our partners. With operations acro ss 19 countries internationally and 26 diversified underwriting divisions domestically, a deep understanding of our business is critical.
“Ranjit’s guidance on potential risks to our businesses will be key in achieving long-term goals as we continue to expand and the wider market continues to evolve. Gaining insight from data is central to our continued profitable growth and Luke’s actuarial expertise will be invaluable to this. Both Ranjit and Luke are excellent additions to our team whose sector experience will help ensure we are on the right track to be the premier insurance underwriting organization in the US.”
