Munich Re Specialty lands new chief claims officer from AIG
Munich Re Specialty Insurance, a subsidiary of global reinsurance group Munich Re, has brought on a top claims leader from AIG as its new chief claims officer in North America.
Peter Macdonald (pictured) has been appointed chief claims officer succeeding Mary Beth McClellan.
Macdonald, who has 20 years of primary insurance claims experience, comes from AIG where he led its North America general insurance casualty claims after joining the company in 2018 as head of workers’ compensation claims, North America GI. Prior to that, he served at The Hartford for 14 years, most recently as its vice president for workers’ compensation claims.
“After 5 great years with AIG, my time there came to a close last week,” Macdonald posted on LinkedIn. “I had the real privilege of working together with great minds and great people and I think we made some real and lasting improvements. I’m thankful for the claims and business leaders who entrusted this great organisation to me and for their guidance and support of our changes over the years. I’m thankful for so many internal and external business partners, who worked with us as a team through challenges.”
Macdonald continued: “And I’m thankful for the extraordinary casualty claims team, who are so devoted to the success of AIG and its customers, and who have taught me so much. It’s been fun to watch so many of you grow and you have a great future collectively and individually.”
