Markel bolsters specialty leadership with new chief claims officer
Global insurer Markel has pushed an insider up the ladder to chief claims officer, overseeing US and Bermuda claims operations within the company's specialty division.
Jamie Carsey has been appointed as chief claims officer of Markel Specialty.
Carsey joined Markel in 2017 as a managing director of claims - legal, and grew to her most recent role of senior managing director of claims - legal and head of litigation. Prior to joining Markel, she served at Thompson Coe, latterly in the role of partner where she managed litigation teams responsible for nationwide cases.
She is a member of Markel’s D&I global steering committee and talent advisory council and also serves on the Houston board for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).
Alex Martin, president at Markel Specialty, said: "Jamie Carsey brings extensive experience, knowledge and leadership that will be instrumental in continuing to strengthen our claims operations alongside enhancing our risk management, compliance, technology and data efforts. I am confident that her work in this new role will continue to enhance Markel's reputation for superior claims service in the market.
"In partnership with our specialty leadership team, Jamie will continue to advance our claims organisation to best serve our partners and customers. I look forward to her further impact on Markel in this new role."
