Zurich sees strong demand in commercial lines plus retail L&H in 2022

Demand for insurance coverage should grow notably in 2022 across commercial and select retail lines, rendering instances of double-digit premium growth for the year, Mario Greco (pictured), group chief executive officer (CEO) of  Zurich Insurance Group, has said.

"We are looking with optimism to 2022 results at the end of the year," Greco said.

Commercial lines should grow in excess of the rise in rates while retail clients may elect to add to accident, health and life coverage, Greco indicated during a webinar for Reuters.

"We expect commercial insurance to still grow significantly, double-digit, in 2022, driven by demand for protection, not just prices," he said.

"We also expect that individuals will reevaluate lines like accident, health and life and there will be increasing demand for products in these lines of business," Greco said.

Double-digit growth for retail savings products is also likely as the "saving component will remain very important".
