Zurich names new boss for international business
Swiss insurer Zurich has appointed Peter Huber as CEO of its international business.
Huber will lead Zurich International, which will include the current life businesses in the Isle of Man, Middle East and Zurich International Corporate Solutions (including Zurich Eurolife based in Luxembourg) – creating a simpler organisation, according to the press release.
Clive Baker, CEO of Zurich International Life, based on the Isle of Man, has left the company after five years in the role.
Huber joined Zurich in July 2013 as CEO Zurich Life Singapore. Since August 2015, he has been working as CEO for Zurich Topas Life Indonesia. Huber joined Zurich from Swiss Re, where he was managing director in the reinsurance division based in Switzerland.
Prior to that, he was regional general manager, life & health, Allianz Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He started his career in business consulting with Arthur Andersen and then spent 10 years with Swiss Life in various roles.
Huber will report to Patrick Manley, CEO of Zurich Insurance, and chief administrative officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
Manley commented: "I am delighted that we have such high calibre leaders as Peter within the Zurich Group. His knowledge and understanding of customers, the market and the company will enable him to work with the team to build on current success. I’d also like to thank Clive for his great leadership over the last five years and wish him every success in his next venture."
Huber said: "I’m really looking forward to the opportunity ahead and to building on the strengths the Zurich Group already has in international business so that we can continue to deliver market-leading protection and savings solutions to expatriates and internationally mobile individuals and employees of large companies."
