XL Catlin’s insurance operation has appointed of Thomas Götting as country manager for Germany.
Götting succeeds Dieter Goebbels who will retire in early 2018.
Götting joins XL Catlin from credit insurer Coface, where he was a member of the management board Northern Europe Region in his position as regional commercial director. He started his insurance career in 1999 at Gerling and held various senior positions at Atradius between 2004 and 2014, including responsibility as country manager Germany, before he moved to Coface.
Götting will be based in Cologne and report to Kelly Lyles, chief executive client & country management at XL Catlin.
Lyles said: "The German economy expanded by 0.7 percent in the first half of 2017, its fastest pace in three years and, as the largest economy in Europe, it is a key market for XL Catlin. I am delighted that Thomas will join us as Country Manager to support our clients and brokers in this important market. Thomas has the client focused and solution oriented approach that our business partners have come to expect from us. I am confident that he will lead our team to develop an even stronger presence across product lines and client segments in Germany."
"Dieter’s successful insurance career has spanned 45 years," Lyles added. "We thank him for his dedication in helping XL Catlin build a very strong and loyal client base in the market. He will stay with us for a transition period to ensure a smooth hand-over to Thomas."
In Germany, XL Catlin has further insurance offices in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich.
