XL Catlin boosts marine practice with Chubb and CNA hires in US
Re/insurer XL Catlin has expanded its inland marine field operations with the addition of Russell Crooks and Maria Klein in San Francisco and Baltimore, respectively.
Crooks takes charge as vice president, national inland marine director, and Klein has been appointed as senior underwriter.
Crooks most recently served as Chubb’s regional inland marine practice leader and underwriter. In his new role at XL, Crooks will liaise with brokers and clients throughout the western US to address their diverse inland marine insurance needs including motor truck cargo, builder’s risk, contractor’s equipment, and logistics inland marine products, among others.
Klein joins XL Catlin from CNA Marine, where she most recently served as an ocean cargo underwriter. She has previously worked at MOAC and Allianz/Fireman's Fund.
"For the last several years, we’ve been expanding our operations, putting our inland marine insurance expertise closer to their clients, agents and brokers with the intent to provide better service," said Michael Perrotti, senior vice president and inland marine practice leader for XL Catlin’s marine business in North America.
"We’re especially pleased to acquire such experienced marine insurance talent that Russell and Maria possess. Their expertise will prove invaluable to our brokers and clients in these key markets and to our team overall as we continue to enhance and develop new inland market insurance products that meet new and emerging business risks."
XL Catlin’s global marine business provides insurance for marine exposures, including inland marine, ocean cargo, blue and brown water hull, P&I, as well as excess and primary marine liabilities.
