WTW attracts former SCOR/Gen Re/Munich Re senior executives to expand ICT business

Global broker  WTW has expanded its insurance consulting and technology (ICT) business by hiring two senior directors with a background at SCOR, Gen Re and Munich Re.

Alan Routhenstein and Noel Harewood have joined WTW’s life insurance consulting and technology business within the company’s ICT operation to help deepen its expertise and technical knowledge across all areas of life insurance.

Routhenstein has more than 30 years of insurance experience, including 13 years in consulting. Most recently, he served as president at Routhenstein & Company, where he assisted insurance company clients with evaluating, negotiating, and implementing structured finance, reinsurance, and derivative transactions. Prior to that, he held key positions at SCOR Global Life including head of financial solutions, Americas, and senior vice president, Americas structuring, global financial solutions. At SCOR, Routhenstein oversaw the design, structuring and implementation of the company's financial solutions transactions and managed a team that handled structured reinsurance financing and block acquisition transactions.

Harewood joins WTW from Gen Re Life Corporation, where he most recently served as president and CEO. Prior, he spent five years as vice president and actuary for individual product management at Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation. Harewood has previously served in a consulting role at WTW for more than 12 years before joining Munich American Reassurance Company in 2011 as corporate actuary for the US life business.

In their new roles, both Routhenstein and Harewood will be responsible for leading client engagements and developing strategic solutions on topics including mergers and acquisitions, block reinsurance transactions, pension risk transfer, corporate structure, structured reinsurance and other capital/risk management transactions, asset/hedging strategies and modeling for asset adequacy testing and principles based reserves, AG38 compliance, other financial modeling and reporting frameworks, litigation support and reinsurance arbitration, actuarial transformation and outsourcing.

"We are thrilled to welcome both Alan and Noel to our expanding team, deepening our technical expertise,” said Dominique Lebel, managing director, Americas Life Insurance Consulting and Technology, WTW. “Their wealth of experience in leadership, client engagement, and specialised expertise in diverse functions underscores our commitment to providing exceptional life consulting services and technology to our clients. Both will help attract new clients, in addition to delivering technical proficiency to current clients with existing service offerings.”
