Willis Re reshuffles senior leadership in Australia
Reinsurance broker Willis Re has appointed Cameron Green as head of its international casualty reinsurance practice as well as chair of Willis Re Australia.
In this new role as the leader of the casualty practice, Green will be responsible for the segment’s growth and development across Willis Re’s international business. He will also work on specific projects within the Asia Pacific region.
John Philipsz, who was the deputy CEO of Willis Re Australia, has been appointed as the chief executive. Both executives will continue to be based in Sydney.
Mark Morley, managing director of Asia Pacific at Willis Re, said: “The two executive positions will enhance the services and capabilities we provide to our clients throughout the region. At the same time, Cameron will continue to support Willis Re’s strategic development in Australia and New Zealand, playing a key advocacy role for a number of clients throughout these markets.”
Green, who has been Willis Re’s CEO in Australia since 2013, said he was looking forward to developing the casualty practice for Willis Re International in addition to delivering strategic support for several of its Australian and New Zealand based clients.
“Willis Re has identified the casualty segment as a key opportunity for its international business, and I’m excited to be able to open doors for clients in such a dynamic area of reinsurance. It is an environment characterised by continuous changing demand for coverage. Furthermore, a closer working relationship with our US business and colleagues will be of significant benefit for our International business,” he said.
Philipsz joined the Australian team in 2018 from Willis Towers Watson Securities. He said: “I’m delighted to be assuming the CEO role and will continue to develop the client-focused platform that has thrived under Cameron’s leadership.
“We have an exceptionally talented team and will carry on investing in our business to ensure that we provide our clients with leading strategic advisory and execution capabilities. We are focused on delivering innovative solutions for our clients across disaster and climate resilience, capital and portfolio optimisation, income diversification and growth, as well as traditional risk transfer and protection options.”
