West Midlands MGA declares relaxation on premium payments amid COVID-19
West Midlands-based insurance provider Commercial Express has teamed up with insurers to support pub and restaurant businesses impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The UK government has recently confirmed that planning rules will be relaxed so that pubs and restaurants can operate as takeaways during the coronavirus outbreak. Previously, planning permission was required for businesses to carry out a change of use to a takeaway. The government has now authorised the relaxation of regulations, enabling businesses to deliver this service without a planning application.
Commercial Express has announced that it will waive any additional premium for existing policy holders. Customers that changes their trade from a restaurant to a takeaway will not be asked to pay any increase in premium that would usually apply.
“In these uncertain times, we want to stress that we are doing all we can. We need to support our policyholders," said Tom Bolstridge, head of underwriting at Commercial Express. “We are still open for business and are here to help you with any questions you may have.”
