US motor insurtech Root expands product portfolio

US motor insurtech Root is expanding its service portfolio with the launch of a homeowners insurance product in partnership with Homesite Insurance.

The new programme, called Root Home, will be available in 13 US states - Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Utah.

The coverage will include loss or damage caused by a variety of unexpected events, including repairs and replacements.

Alex Timm, co-founder and CEO of Root, said: “The addition of Root Home delivers increased value to our customers through the same mobile-first platform that our customers have come to rely on to customize their car insurance. With Root Home, more of our customers will find the savings and protection that gives them additional peace of mind through a platform they already know and trust.”
