Tropical storm Nicole eyeing Florida coast for mid-week
Tropical storm Nicole may be targeting Florida's east coast for mid-week, the National Hurricane Center said in its first advisory on the system.
For now, the NHC is offering only a Tropical Storm Watch for the north-western Bahamas, but has broader warnings of trouble down the line. A watch "could be required" for the Florida coast later today, the NHC said.
"Nicole is forecast to be a large storm, and regardless of its exact path, widespread impacts from a prolonged period of coastal flooding, tropical-storm-f9rce winds, heavy rainfall, rough surf and rip current, and beach erosion are likely," the NHC said.
Nicole "could be at or near hurricane strength" when it hits the Bahamas and Florida coast on Wednesday and Thursday (November 9-10), the NHC said of its current top probability course.
