"All insurance companies are aware they need to re-think their business models - the InsurTech 100 identifies some of the solution providers that could become their competitors or partners in the next few years," said Richard Sachar, director of FinTech Global.
Among the UK companies included in the list is pay-by-mile car insurance startup By Miles, property rental market disrupter Canopy, digital-only insurance broker Digital Risks, home insurance startup Homelyfe, end-to-end integrated insurance chatbot solutions provider Spixii, telematics providers The Floow, ThingCo, and pet insurance platform Waggel, among others.
Some of the top US companies that made it to the Insurtech 100 list included insurance platform Boost Insurance, digital small business insurance broker Bunker, property data analytics provider Cape Analytics, California-based Carpe Data, online publisher of insurance consumer reviews and data Clearsurance, online property and casualty insurance comparison platform CoverHound, cloud-based platform Denim, Kin Insurance, Pie Insurance, and RiskGenius, among 29 others.
"The most successful of these companies will a have huge impact on the insurance industry, which could potentially be measured in billions of pounds. It's essential that established insurance companies are aware of which innovative companies are leveraging new technologies to disrupt the traditional insurance models.
