Tokio Marine makes raft of new hires to expand UK professional risks business

Specialty insurance group  Tokio Marine HCC International has unveiled a raft of new hires and promotions in a move to significantly strengthen its UK professional risks division as part of its wider growth strategy.

The professional risks division has been relocated to two larger premises in Cardiff and Birmingham, as the insurer looks to enhance growth within the regions and develop the overall portfolio and proposition.

Adam Bradford (pictured) will take on the role of underwriting manager - professional risks Midlands and South, to lead and build the Birmingham team.

Russell Rees has been promoted to underwriting manager to assist with management of the Bristol team.

The newly opened Cardiff office will include four liability underwriters with ambitious plans for growth. The Manchester office has also expanded its team with six PI and three liability underwriters.

Ian Bush has been hired as development underwriter, bringing 20 years of PI experience across a wide variety of professions.

Sue McCurdy has been promoted to development underwriter and Hayley Livesey has joined as underwriting assistant, also bringing 20 years of administration and organisational expertise.

Additionally, Jenny Campbell has joined as underwriter – liability.

Commenting on the move, Andy Macpherson, regional underwriting director for professional risks, said: “ Tokio Marine HCC’s expansion is a further demonstration of our commitment to the regional broker market. We believe that our brokers are best serviced by underwriters who are based in and understand their local market. This focus on local knowledge is one of the main reasons we produce such consistently strong underwriting results, year after year.”

Tony Browne, managing director for professional risks, added: “We are really pleased with our current expansion within the regions, and I’m delighted that within this growth we have been able to make internal promotions.”

“Our new hires join what is already a strong and experienced team who have an excellent reputation in the market.”
