THB swoops for senior aviation broker from Ed in growth strategy
Specialist re/insurance broker THB has hired a senior broker from Ed Broking. Matthew Gould will join THB's aviation team, reporting to division director Tom Thompson.
The appointment follows THB's new multi-sector UK strategy recently revealed by Darren Nightingale, CEO of THB MET, which encompasses the Lloyd’s broker’s marine, energy & transportation divisions, including aviation.
Gould has 12 years’ experience in the aviation market. Prior to Ed Broking, he was an aerospace claims broker at Heath Lambert Group, having begun his career as a claims handler at Aviva in 2005.
“I’m delighted to welcome Matt to the team. As well as Matt’s technical knowledge, which is so important in this sector, he also has a well-rounded understanding of the various sub-classes, with particular experience in general aviation and aerospace risks," said Thompson. "With his expertise in both direct and facultative placement as well as claims handling, Matt’s experience will contribute significantly to our wide-ranging aviation portfolio.”
Nightingale added: “Matt is joining THB at a particularly exciting time, as we implement strategies which not only embrace our specialist THB broking teams, but also bring together specialists from different sectors to meet our retail brokers’ needs more effectively. Aviation is an important part of this mix. It’s primarily viewed as international business and, while of course THB has plenty of international aviation clients, we will also be pursuing aviation business in the UK in a more targeted way.”
