Talbot poaches from ANV to bolster cyber team

Talbot Underwriting, a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Validus Holdings, has appointed a dedicated team of cyber underwriters.

Phil Mayes has been hired as senior class underwriter and Gillian Anderson as class underwriter, both specialising in cyber and technology sectors.

Prior to joining Talbot, Mayes served as class underwriter, cyber and technology E&O at ANV Syndicates. He has also worked for Zurich Global Corporate as head of technology PI Europe, and for Lockton Companies.

Anderson also joins from ANV, where he was the cyber and technology underwriter. He has previously held positions at JLT Specialty, Willis UK and CFC Underwriting.

“I am delighted to welcome Phil and Gillian to the firm and am confident that their experience and knowledge will be invaluable to Talbot and our clients as we build and refine our cyber offering,” said James Skinner, chief underwriting officer at Talbot.

“As Talbot continues to develop its cyber offering, it is essential that we bring in talented individuals with deep expertise in the sector, building on our studies in this area with Cambridge University.”
