Swiss Re to hunt for new reinsurance CFO as Cordioli switches to new role

Swiss Re has moved its current chief financial officer (CFO) of reinsurance to the newly created position of group finance director as the carrier looks to advance its finance function.

Claudia Cordioli (pictured) will assume the new role effective May 01, 2022. While a successor to Cordioli as CFO of reinsurance will be announced in due course.

In her newly created position, Cordioli will report to group CFO John Dacey and will oversee the group reporting, group tax, accounting & reporting and finance corporate functions as well as the implementation of the IFRS framework across finance.

Cordioli has over 20 years of experience. Most recently, she has been the CFO of reinsurance since February 2020. Before that, she was head of Western & Southern Europe from 2018, leading Swiss Re's reinsurance business in 15 countries. Claudia first joined Swiss Re in 2003 and held a range of positions in finance and the business, including CFO of EMEA, head of group external reporting and managing director for Italy, Iberia and Mediterranean.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, she worked in a number of banking and consulting firms, including KPMG. She also co-chairs Swiss Re's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council in Zurich.

Dacey said: "Claudia Cordioli has a breadth of experience covering both business and finance functions, having worked in both areas in her numerous years at Swiss Re. She is well known for her drive and leadership skills as well as her track record in building strong teams and businesses. She was a natural choice for the role as Group Finance Director. I look forward to continue working closely with her in advancing our Finance function."
