Swiss Re refreshes Asia leadership with new SRAL chair and CEO at helm

Global reinsurer  Swiss Re has reshuffled the board of directors for Swiss Re Asia, appointing new members to drive growth and strengthen regional expertise.

Deanna Ong (pictured) has taken over as chairperson of Swiss Re Asia’s (SRAL’s) board of directors, succeeding Lim Siong Guan who will retire at the end of his term. Siong Guan has chaired the SRAL Board since its establishment in 2018.

Ong is a director of both Swiss Re and SRAL and will help guide the Asia business forward.

Furthermore, Paul Murray, who has been appointed as CEO of L&H Reinsurance in April, will step down from his duties as CEO of SRAL.

This change will see Victor Kuk, head property & casualty reinsurance SID, take on the additional appointment of SRAL CEO, with Daisy Ning, head life & health reinsurance APAC assuming Kuk's former role as the CEO of SRAL Hong Kong Branch. Ning will be supported by the branch committee in her duties. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2023, subject to regulatory approvals.

Murray commented: "I am confident that under Deanna's leadership, supported by the management team, SRAL will continue to excel in fulfilling its governance and regulatory performance."
